Recruitment: Editorial Assistant
A full-time, temporary appointment (one to two months) at £300 per week.
The Fabian Society is seeking to recruit an Editorial Assistant to work on its publications programme, to be managed by the Editorial Director. The post is offered on a full-time, temporary basis, to provide cover from mid-July for one to two months, with the possibility of a month’s extension after that, according to individual circumstance.
All candidates must be available to start as soon as possible, ideally by the beginning of August, and be able to work full time (Monday to Friday) during this period. The Editorial Assistant will work with the Editorial Director supporting editing and production for the Fabian publications programme, particularly the Fabian Review as well as Fabian pamphlets and other outputs as relevant.
We are looking for a hard working and efficient self-starter with an ability to manage multiple projects, a keen interest in political and policy ideas, an understanding of the UK political process and some relevant work experience.

Person specification
The ideal candidate would:
1. Have a strong interest in and good understanding of politics and current public policy issues.
2. Be able to liaise effectively with colleagues, authors and others, including senior politicians and academics across a range of disciplines.
3. Have experience of taking responsibility for projects from inception to completion and an ability to plan their own work effectively.
4. Be an effective communicator, able to work effectively both in a small team and independently.
5. Be in sympathy with the aims and values of the Fabian Society.
Conditions
The salary for this position is £300 per week. We work a 35-hour week with contracted hours from 9.30am to 5.30pm.
