An essay written by Louise Bamfield in the 'Fairness in a Ression' issue of Fabian Review, showed how popular attitudes to pay and tax have been 'credit crunched':
"Media exposure of corporate excess and rewards for failure has started to shift the public mood, opening up space for political action...There is some evidence that the Government could have gone further [than the new 45% rate announced in November], with support for the idea of a higher tope rate of 50 % for people earning over £150,000."
