The Fabian AGM yook place on Saturday 10th November. In addition to the usual AGM business, members enjoyed a debate on the relevance today of Beatrice Webb and the 1909 Poor Law Minority Report, previewing a major new Fabian research project into the future of the welfare state, with Karen Buck MP and Tim Horton, Fabian Society Research Director.
AGM RESOLUTIONS"To resolve that the rules of the Society be amended to remove the discrimination against members over the age of 31 in elections to the Society's Executive Committee. That Rule 11 be amended by deleting the 3rd and 4th sentance and 10th sentance of Rule 11." Martin Thirlaway "In view of the increasing complexity of the world around us, this AGM urges the Executive Committee to initiate a wide ranging debate, involving all sections of the Society, to discuss its future and the ways to make it fit for purpose, in the 21st Century." Peter Stern "The annual rate of subscription for members and associates shall be £35.00; for members and associates who pay by Direct Debit the annual rate of subscription shall be £33.00. Students, retired people and the long-term unemployed may subscribe at £17.00, or £16.00 for those who pay by Direct Debit." Executive Committee |
