Fabian Society Development Programme: Two ‘London Living Wage’ development posts

The Fabian Society is replacing its existing unpaid internship scheme with a paid Development Programme. This builds on the society’s proud history of supporting volunteers and junior staff to develop their careers; four of our current staff are former interns and we have a diverse and successful alumni network.

We are currently recruting for:

  • Events and Office Assistant (12 month contract)
  • Editorial Assistant (12 month contract)

These posts are designed as first step into the political world and an opportunity to learn about work in Westminster. People from backgrounds that are under-represented in Westminster and at the Fabian Society are particularly encouraged to apply. This includes women, disabled people1 and people from low-income or minority ethnic backgrounds. Appointments are based on merit alone.

* Labour’s Next Majority: An electoral and political strategy for the left

Scottish Fabians

There is consensus that the left needs to articulate a distinctive vision for Scotland based on values rather than independence.

This conference aims to outline the vision and policy agenda to renew and reinvigorate Scottish centre-left politics. The event will cover a broad sweep of topics from the economy to civic structures from equality to international affairs.

How Labour Wins

Spring 2012 ReviewOne day Labour will win again, and the new Fabian Review shows how it will happen. Introducing a major new Fabian Society research project on 'Labour's Next Majority', Marucs Roberts, Neal Lawson, Tessa Jowell and Paul Hunter explore where Labour stands electorally nearly two years into opposition, and draw a map of the possible routes to a majority, investigating what they mean for Labour politics.
